Collection: Emily Faludy

Born in 1987, Emily studied Fine Art at the university of Wales, Aberystwyth, where (it seems strange to her now) she painted not a single landscape but was focused on portrait painting.

On a rainy November in 2009, an impulse to paint outdoors found Emily in a soggy field in Kent, paintbrush in hand. It was very cold. It was wet. She was exhilarated and she was hooked! Since then she has painted in a variety of climates and environments, from Greek mountains to French seashores, via English bluebell woods and urban cityscapes. She always paints in oils – the draw is their flexibility and the richness of the colours that can be achieved. As a painter, Emily feels honoured that her role is to hold up a mirror to the beauty of the world in all its myriad manifestations; she finds that this is best conveyed through capturing the sense of light and atmosphere unique to each time and location, directly from life.

Since painting in Windsor for an event in 2017, Emily has been delighted to regularly return to try and capture fresh and exciting perspectives of this historic town. This year in particular has been incredible for documenting Windsor in the changing seasons…from heavy snowfall to blistering hot summer.

Emily regularly attends plein air competitions and events. Last year she won the ‘Oils’ category at ‘Paint Out Norwich’, the UK’s only juried Plein Air painting event, and recently won the ‘London Art Prize’ at the ‘Picture the Heath’ event at Hampstead Heath, London.
